PBS To Air 2-Part Series on Hinduism
With nearly 1.8 million Hindus from more than a
dozen countries living across 
America, an in-depth look at the religion and
tradition was expected long 
ago. 
The Public Broadcasting Service is finally
ready to air a two-part 
documentary film that studies Hinduism through a
number of encounters with 
Indian Americans.
The documentary, directed by Monika Samtani would be
seen in New York area till 
August 8 at 6 pm. There are possibilities of
repeat shows. The 
documentary is part of PBS Religion & Ethics
Newsweekly. PBS has plans to 
have similar documentaries on Islam, followed by
smaller segments on Sikhism, 
Buddhism and Jainism.
Hosted by veteran journalist Bob Abernethy,
Religion & Ethics Newsweekly 
presents in-depth coverage of major religion and
ethics news stories and 
examines significant developments within religions,
denominations and 
congregations in reports from all over the US and
the world. 
The reports are filed by a distinguished team of
correspondents, including 
Stan Bernard, Maureen Bunyan, Paul Miller, Betty
Rollin, Lucky Severson, Jeff 
Sheler, Judy Valente, Juan Williams and Mary Alice
Williams, among others. 
This series features a distinguished advisory board
of 28 journalists, 
academics and religious leaders who discuss
specific ethical issues and 
review the week's biggest news stories from their
own unique perspectives. 
Special profiles focus on ordinary people actively
living out their faith in 
their daily lives.
