Bhandari transfers Bihar chief secretary, police chief

Bihar Governor Sunder Singh Bhandari tonight transferred Chief Secretary S N Biswas and Director General of Police K A Jacob, barely a few hours after the imposition of President's rule in the state.

V S Dubey, member secretary of the Bihar Revenue Board, has taken over as the new chief secretary. T P Singh, managing director, Police Housing Construction Corporation, is the new DGP.

The new team reviewed the law-and-order situation in view of the bandh (general strike) called by the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (Liberation group) tomorrow and the agitation to be launched by Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Laloo Prasad Yadav.

They ordered the state administration to take stringent measures to maintain law and order.
