RJD demands Governor Bhandari's dismissal, Home Minister Advani's resignation
The Rashtriya Janata Dal today accused the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government at the Centre of "unleashing a reign of terror and oppression in Bihar under cover of President's rule" while mass murders continue unabated.
Demanding the immediate removal of Governor Sunder Singh Bhandari and the resignation of Union Home Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani, party spokesman M A A Fatmi, MP, said they have lost the moral right to govern because President's rule had been imposed following a similar massacre.
"The cent per cent success of the party-sponsored Bihar bandh [general strike] today has shown that people at large are opposed to central rule," he claimed.
Fatmi alleged that the BJP-Samata Party alliance in the state is trying to buy legislators in the assembly, but not a single RJD legislator or member of Parliament has cared to meet politicians of the two parties camping in Patna.
The RJD also asked the Congress to stop "blowing hot and cold" and make its stand clear whether it is with the BJP or opposes the imposition of central rule in Bihar.
He said the best course for the Centre would be to let the RJD prove its majority on the floor of the house and call for fresh elections.
