The Punjab and Haryana high court has dismissed a writ petition filed by Punjab's Director General of Police P C Dogra, challenging the quashing of his extension by the local bench of the Central Administrative Tribunal.

A division bench comprising Justice G S Singhvi and Justice Amar Dutt also refused to stay the CAT's order rejecting Dogra's second extension in service.

Earlier, on February 4, a division bench comprising Justices Singhvi and Iqbal Singh, after hearing arguments by Dogra's counsel, had stayed the operation of the CAT order.

Dogra's second extension was to end on March 31 this year.

The CAT passed its order on January 28 on a petition filed by Punjab's Additional Director General of Police (Government Railway Police) Jarnail Singh and ADGP (Punjab Armed Police) Mahal Singh Bhullar.

Dogra, an Indian Police Service officer of the 1964 batch was to retire on March 31, 1998. He was granted an extension till September 30 by the state government, followed by another six-month extension.
