New Goa CM may be elected todayCongress high command emissaries Madhavrao Scindia and Manmohan Singh arrived in Panaji this morning to meet the 21 newly elected Congress legislators to find a consensus on the leadership issue of the Congress Legislature Party. The two-member team will be assisted by Govindrao Adik and Ramesh Chennithala, who are already camping in the state. Fancisco Sardinha, former minister, has already staked his claim for the post of chief ministership. Former deputy chief minister Dayanand Narvekar is also contesting for the post. However, according to party sources, the real race is between Ravi Naik, former chief minister who got elected from Ponda, and Luizinho Faleiro, also chief minister for a brief stint and current president of the Goa Congress unit, who got elected from Navilim with a thumping margin. The CLP leadership issue is likely to be resolved this evening and the ministry sworn in as early as possible. UNI
