Chidambaram blasts BJP over KargilTamil Maanila Congress leader and former Union finance minister P Chidambaram has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government at the Centre of 'ineptly' handling the Kargil situation. He claimed that this had prompted Pakistan, which had not been able to occupy even one square foot of land during the last 28 years, to send in militants in a largescale, thereby ''occupying about 14,000 square feet of land on our side of the Line of Control''. He was addressing the media at Thirubhuvanam in Tamil Nadu last night. Expressing doubts about the patriotism of Defence Minister George Fernandes, he said the people of Tamil Nadu were closely watching the developments in Kargil. UNI
