Police seek information on suspect in Salva murder caseA P Kamath in New York The Bergen County police is seeking a male Hispanic, between 20 to 30 years, about five foot seven inches, of medium build, with dark eyes and medium complexion in connection with the investigation of the robbery and killing of newsstand owner Amritlal Salva. Bergen County Prosecutor William H Schmidt announced on May 28 that the individual has his hair cut short on the top and sides and long in the back. He also has a mole or birthmark on his right cheek. Savla, 69, was found dead in the bathroom of his store on May 22, following a heart attack. Police suspect the robber bound him and ran away with the cash. The shop, Marina's News and Candy Store, is located at 386 Fairview Avenue, Fairview, New Jersey. Police believe the Hispanic man was seen near the store about 1.30 pm on May 22. A customer who came to the shop and found nobody there called the police about 2.30 pm, but the police had no idea that a bathroom existed behind a shelf in the cluttered shop. Salva's son who arrived at the shop at about 5.30 pm led the police to the bathroom. Anyone who recognizes the individual can contact Sergeant Brian Callanan of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Squad, (201) 646-2422, or Detective Lieutenant John Pinzone of the Fairview Police Department, (201) 943-2100.
