Hussain 'conspired' to defame Pak army

E-Mail this report to a friend

Investigating agencies have gathered evidence of the involvement of former information minister Mushahid Hussain in a conspiracy to defame the army and create divisions in the armed forces, Pakistan Observer has disclosed quoting investigating agencies sources.

Hussain was Nawaz Sharief's most trustworthy cabinet member and instrumental in the ploy to oust General Pevez Musharraff.

According to intelligence sources, three Pakistani and two Indian columnists were also part of the game to paint the Pakistan army as a rouge army and Sharief as the saviour, who averted an imminent nuclear holocaust by signing the Washington accord. It also claimed that the investigating agencies have in their possession records and documents strongly supporting Hussain's role in this covert operation.

According to the newspaper report, investigators have also recovered documents from the prime minister's house and the residence of Hussain indicating that Sharief planned to take action against five senior army officers, including the chief of army staff, chief of general staff, corps commander, Rawalpindi and the head of the army aviation. Hussain was behind this advice to the prime minister.
