New governors appointment sets all speculation to restSetting at rest all speculation, President K R Narayanan today appointed former Cabinet secretary Vinod Pande governor of Bihar, Mukand Steel chairman and Bharatiya Janata Party Rajya Sabha member Viren Shah governor of West Bengal and transferred Goa Governor Lt General (retd) J F R Jacob to Punjab. According to a Rashtrapati Bhavan communique former Delhi police commissioner Ved Marwah will be the governor of Manipur and former Planning Commission member Mohammed Fazal will be governor of Goa. Lt Gen Jacob will also be the administrator of the Union territory of Chandigarh. The appointments will take effect from the dates they assume charge of their respective offices, the communique said.
