Key conspirator behind IC 814 hijack arrestedZakia Maryam in Calcutta In what could be a major breakthrough in the IC-814 highjack case, the West Bengal police arrested Noor Mian, suspected to be one of the gang leaders behind the incident on Tuesday night at around 2100 IST. Noor was arrested at Bashirhat on the West Bengal-Bangladesh border while trying to sneak across the border. Though the police is yet to ascertain Noor's real identity, it suspects that he's part of an international gang having links with Pakistan's Inter Service Intelligence. Pravin Kumar, assistant superintendent of police, North 24-Parganas, told rediff.com that Noor is undergoing intense interrogation by the IB personnel. "He (Noor) seems to have many aliases and we are trying to ascertain his real identity. A high level team comprising IB, CBI and RAW personnel from Delhi has already rushed for Calcutta. He might be taken to various places today in order to nab his other associates in Bengal," Kumar said . SIS Ahmed, additional commissioner of Calcutta police told rediff.com that Noor may be taken to either Bashirhat or Barasat court depending on what the authorities decide. "He maybe flown to the place where the actual case in the highjack of IC-814 has been registered." CRISIS ABOARD IC 814:The full coverage
