Notices to Outlook on suit by Mukesh Gupta

E-Mail this report to a friend

The Delhi high court Friday issued notices to Outlook editor Vinod Mehta and five others on a defamation suit filed by a New Delhi-based industrialist alleging that the magazine has defamed him by wrongly linking him to the match-fixing controversy.

The court also issued notices to Outlook 's owner C Ravindran, printer Tata Donnelley Ltd, vice-president Pradeep Mohan and correspondent V Sudershan, asking them to appear before court on October 18.

Industrialist Mukesh Gupta, in a suit for damages filed by counsel Gautam Dutta, alleged the magazine had projected him as a bookie in a report published in its June 26 issue.

It had also published photographs of his house and other properties, though he had nothing to do with the match-fixing controversy, Gupta claimed.

His counsel, in reply to a legal notice, said the magazine had stated that the report was based on information from the Delhi police.
