Ayodhya panel summons RSS chief

The Justice M S Liberhans commission, inquiring into the demolition of the Babri masjid, Tuesday asked Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief K S Sudarshan to appear before it on December 20, to record his statement.

Union Sports Minister Uma Bharti, who was slated to appear before the commission on Monday, had pleaded inability due to urgent work in Parliament, and has been asked to do so on December 19.

The commission has also summoned HRD Minister M M Joshi on January 15 and 16, former prime minister P V Narasimha Rao on January 26 and 27, former West Bengal chief minister Jyoti Basu on January 29 and Home Minister L K Advani on January 22 and 23.
