Six of a family commit suicide in RajasthanKamla Bora in Jaipur Six members of a family have committed suicide to "save family honour" in a Rajasthan village. The father, mother, their three daughters and one son consumed pesticide tablets in village Jabarasar, about 40 kilometre from Nohar town in Hanumangarh district of northwest Rajasthan. The neighbours found the bodies Thursday, police officials said in Jaipur. A suicide note, believed to be written by Teja Ram, the head of the family, said they were taking this extreme step to save "family honour". His 15-year-old daughter, the letter explained, had been sexually exploited by a jeep driver from the same village. While Ram and his wife were in their 40s, their children were aged between five and 15 years. Three bottles of pesticide tablets were found in the house, police said. A post-mortem revealed that the eldest daughter was three months pregnant. The police have registered two cases, under sections 306 and 376 of the Indian Penal Code, and arrested the driver Vijay Singh.
