11 killed in Forward Bloc-Trinamul clashesOur Correspondent in Calcutta At least eleven people were killed and several others injured in a series of clashes between Forward Bloc and Trinamul Congress supporters this morning at Sujapur village in West Bengal's Birbhum district. Bolpur sub-divisional officer Sushanta Ranjan Upadhyaya said according to a preliminary report the clashes followed a dispute over the cutting of paddy. Upadhyaya along with other top officials have rushed to spot. Speaking to rediff.com, Director General of Police Dipak Sanyal said the clashes were a fallout of the bitter political rivalry between the Forward Bloc and the Trinamul Congress. He said he was awaiting a report on the latest situation from his officers. |
