Govt preparing for talks: J&K governor

Jammu and Kashmir Governor Girish Saxena Saturday said the government is preparing ground to hold talks with the militants.

"Ground is being prepared for dialogue," Saxena told reporters in New Delhi after attending a meeting of group of ministers on internal security headed by Home Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani.

Asked about the situation in the state after the rejection of the cease-fire offer by militant groups, Saxena said the government would stick to its decision to suspend combat operations during Ramadan.

On the possibility of resumption of talks, he said so far no formal dialogue [between the government and militant groups] has taken place.
