Trinamul rules out alliance with Congress

Trinamul Congress on Sunday night said there was no question of Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee withdrawing her resignation from the Union Cabinet on the issue of petroleum products price hike but ruled out any alliance with the Congress to fight the ruling Left Front in West Bengal in next year's assembly elections.

"There is no question of withdrawing resignation letters of Banerjee and Panja," Trinamul Congress chief whip in Lok Sabha Sudip Bandopadhyay told Star TV.

"We are awaiting the final decision of the central government. If Mamata Banerjee and Ajit Panja are not in the ministry, how can we be partners in the National Democratic Alliance?" he asked.

On the statement of Congress leader P R Dasmunshi that his party was willing to form a secular alliance under the leadership of Banerjee in the event of Trinamul withdrawing support to the NDA, Bandopadhyay said, "We are not going for any alliance with the Congress in West Bengal."
