E-Mail this report to a friend

Karnataka Home Minister M Mallikarjuna Kharge rushed to Madras on Monday, to hold discussions with the Tamil Nadu government on the Kannada film star Dr Rajakumar abduction crisis.

Official sources in Bangalore confirmed the visit, but declined to elaborate on the purpose of the visit.

Kharge's sudden departure assumed significance in the wake of the Supreme Court taking up for hearing on Tuesday a special leave petition filed by retired deputy superintendent of police Abdul Kareem challenging the Karnataka government's decision to release 121 Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act detenues.
