DMK completes seat-sharing arrangement
for Pondicherry

The party's allies Puducherri (Pondicherry) Makkal Congress has been allotted nine seats, BJP five, Dalit Panthers of India two and one seat to Janata Dal (U), a DMK press release said.

Earlier in the day, former TMC leader and founder of PMC, P Kannan held discussions with DMK chief and NDA head in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry M Karunanidhi. The hour-long talks culminated in the allocation of nine seats to the PMC.

After the talks, Kannan told mediapersons that he was fully satisfied with the allocation.

Later, a BJP team led by its Tamil Nadu vice-president K N Lakshamanan and its Pondicherry unit president A M Krishnamurthy held similar talks with Karunanidhi.

After the talks, Krishnamurthy told mediapersons at the DMK headquarters in Madras that his party would be contesting five seats.

DMK spokesperson S Ganesan, later told reporters that an agreement was reached between JD (U) and DMK and the party had been given one seat.
