Ajit Kumar Panja meets Advani

After the meeting, Panja said he had briefed Advani on the entire sequence of events after the Trinamul Congress withdrew support to the government.

Panja has denied Trinamul Congress' claim that all nine party MPs, including him, had signed a resolution on March 17 severing all links with the NDA on the Tehelka issue.

He has also written to Speaker G M C Balayogi for allotment of a seat among NDA members claiming that he was not party to any decision or resolution of the Trinamul Congress seeking total withdrawal from the ruling alliance.

Panja, who has expressed readiness to join Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's proposed election rally in Calcutta 'if invited', is likely to meet Vajpayee in Delhi soon.

The former Union minister has charged that there was 'lack of democracy' within the Trinamul Congress and said he was ready to face disciplinary action.

He has also criticised the common minimum programme of the Congress and Trinamul Congress saying 'the much-touted Bengal package, which drew personal interest of the prime minister, did not find place in the programme'.
