8 Panjim students, accused
of ragging, suspended

Sandesh Prabhudesai in Panjim

Eight students of the National Institute of Hotel Management and Catering in Panjim have been suspended following their arrest in a case of ragging.

The students, three from Uttar Pradesh, two from Bihar and one each from Delhi, Bombay and Dehradun, were arrested after the college principal filed an FIR against them.

All eight of them have been released on bail, but the Panjim police have not ruled out the possibility of more arrests.

Meanwhile, no action has yet been taken in another complaint of ragging filed by a Delhi-based student Shailender Agarwal, who was stripped by four boys and two girls in the institute.

Agarwal, who is in Delhi now, has refused to come to Goa to identify the students who had ragged him.
