Union Home Minister L K Advani said the terrorists who had attacked Parliament would pay dearly for their "misadventure".
Speaking from within the Parliament House shortly after the attack, he said all ministers and MPs were safe.
The attack on the highest legislative body will be condemned by the entire country, he said.
Since the terrorists started the trend of suicide squads, any structure could be attacked - but no effort would be spared in tracking down the people behind this act of terror, Advani added.
It was only recently that the Jammu and Kashmir state assembly was attacked in Srinagar
