Ranga Rao's bail plea dismissed: PTI

Ranga Rao was arrested and remanded to judicial custody by the 21st metropolitan magistrate on Saturday for 15 days.

He is now recuperating at the Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences in Hyderabad.

Rao's counsel Sridhar, who filed a bail application on health grounds, contended that his client had undergone an open heart surgery and hence necessary medical care was needed.

The public prosecutor vehemently opposed the bail application and said Rao has been admitted to the NIMS and was under the supervision of doctors.

He informed the court that investigations were on and the investigating agency had been examining witnesses and collecting evidence.

After hearing both sides, the judge rejected the bail application, contending that Rao, who sought the bail on health grounds, is already undergoing treatment at the NIMS for which permission had been granted.

Concurring with the public prosecutor, the judge said, ''It is not proper to consider the bail application as the investigation against Rao is in progress.''
