Farooq Abdullah Rushes to Srinagar

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah Saturday rushed to Srinagar to take stock of the situation arising out of Friday's suicide attack by Lashkar-e-Tayiba militants on the Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police Headquarters.

Abdullah told reporters in Delhi that two of the intruders have been killed, while two others managed to escape. Bodies of seven policemen have been retrieved, he added.

Condemning the attack, the chief minister said it was intended to sabotage the peace initiative of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Terming the attack as "naked" aggression, he said the attackers were all Pakistanis and "we have their names."
