No dialogue with Pak if violence continues: Advani

Union Home Minister L K Advani Friday reiterated that a dialogue with Pakistan would be possible only if Islamabad stopped sponsoring cross-border terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.

The home minister was speaking at the two-day national executive of the Bharatiya Janata Party in New Delhi.

Intervening in a discussion on the political resolution on J&K, Advani pointed out that India is not a 'soft state' and it is committed to deal firmly with any act of terrorism.

He said India is in a much better position vis-à-vis J&K today because New Delhi has apprised the international community about Pakistan's role in the troubled state.

Advani said if the Kashmir problem had been dealt properly in 1971, "perhaps things would have been different today."

Denying that his government was led by any anti-Muslim bias, Advani admitted that there were "some incidents" that had caused concern.

The home minister made no mention of the party's stand on Ayodhya.
