14 civilians injured in grenade attack

Fourteen people were wounded when militants on Saturday made an abortive attempt to target a police party in Kulgam town in south Kashmir by detonating a grenade, police said.

They said militants threw a grenade towards a team of the Special Operations Group of local police near Kulgam bus stand. The grenade missed its target and exploded on the road injuring 14 pedestrians.

This is the second such incident in the same area during the past three days.

On February 28, four SOG personnel and a CRPF jawan were injured in a grenade attack.
