Ajit Panja meets Vajpayee

Dissident Trinamul Congress leader Ajit Panja on Saturday night met Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and is understood to have discussed the post assembly election scenario in West Bengal.

The meeting lasted half-an-hour, informed sources said.

Defying a party directive, Panja had attended the swearing-in ceremony of the Left Front government in West Bengal on Friday.

Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Union Minister Tapan Sikdar had on Friday claimed the Trinamul Congress would break up soon.

"Trinamul will split soon," he told reporters when asked to comment on the situation following the electoral debacle of the Trinamul Congress.

Sikdar's comments came in the backdrop of Panja's recent outbursts against party chief Mamata Banerjee.
