After the exposure of three different financial scandals, the tiny state of Goa has now been shocked by a sex scandal involving the sons of some top local politicians.
"It seems worse than the Jalgaon sex scandal," said Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who has directed the police to investigate the matter following an oral complaint.
Though the police are silent, preliminary inquiries have reportedly brought some startling facts to the fore and they suspect the involvement of sons of influential Congressmen in exploiting college girls in collusion with a leading loan shark of the state capital.
The racket involving sexual abuse and gambling was run from a building at Miramar in Panjim, supposedly owned by the loan shark. To attract young girls from a nearby college, a cyber café functioning there offered special concessions for students.
According to police sources, good-looking girls visiting the cyber café were offered soft drinks mixed with sleep-inducing drugs. The drowsy victims were then dragged to flats above, undressed and photographed in compromising positions.
The girls were then blackmailed with the threat of sending the obscene photographs to their parents and compelled to satisfy the lust of the sons of some top politicians, senior bureaucrats and even police officers.
A close associate of a former chief minister as well as the sons of some former ministers and other VIPs holding influential positions are supposedly involved in the racket, which had been in operation for over a year now, the sources said.
They disclosed that a criminal case will be filed in the matter shortly, with Parrikar taking a personal interest in the shameful scandal that has taken place in his own constituency.
"No matter who the culprit is, they will not be spared," Parrikar said, while confirming the involvement of some influential members of society in the scandal.
