Tara Shankar Sahay in Amritsar

Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday announced it would go all out for the passage of the Prevention of Terrorist Ordinance in Parliament,

Senior party leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra, while expressing confidence that POTO would be passed in the Lok Sabha, asserted the BJP would hold the Congress and the Samajwadi Party responsible, if it failed to get through in the Rajya Sabha.

He said, "There is no doubt that terrorism and the passage of POTO will be an election issue. The BJP will campaign in its favour because terrorism today is a worldwide evil."

"If the ordinance fails to be passed in the Rajya Sabha, the Congress and the Samajawadi Party would be exposed, because they have been conducting a campaign against it in various states," Malhotra pointed out.

Referring to Saturday's in camera proceedings of the national executive meet, he said the impending corporation elections in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttaranchal, Delhi and Maharashtra were discussed.

He said the role of the BJP's Yuva Morcha (in preparing for these elections ) was praised by the party leaders, and the youth body's leaders expressed confidence that the BJP would perform better and win in the these states.
