Police seized the passports of former home minister Tofail Ahmed and former industries minister Mohammad Nasim on Tuesday after the Khaleda Zia government pledged at a recent cabinet meeting to bring out a white paper on the corruption of the previous Awami League (AL) government.
Former prime minister and AL chief Sheikh Hasina condemned the government action terming it 'political repression and harassment'.
The police had also carried out raids in the homes of two other former ministers - Abdur Razzak and Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir - and former prime minister Hasina's advisor on parliamentary affairs Suranjit Sen Gupta.
Sen said both he and Razzak surrendered their passports on Wednesday after taking oath.
Police had visited their residence on Monday night to get the passports.
Home Minister Altaf Hossain Chowdhury said the Bureau of Anti-corruption had collected documents that proved prima facie the ministers' involvement in corruption.
He said the BAC was scrutinising the documents and would soon file cases and denied a 'political motive' behind the government's action.
