Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa moved the Supreme Court on Monday, seeking vacation of the stay order issued by the court on August 28.
The Supreme Court stayed the proceedings in the Tansi land scam in the Madras high court, on the ground that the high court was showing undue haste in hearing her petition.
In her petition Jayalalithaa claimed the charges levelled against her were false, and asked the Supreme Court to vacate the stay and let the Madras high court hear her petition.
On Friday, the Madras high court had indefinitely adjourned the hearing of her petition in view of the Supreme Court order.
The high court was hearing her petition against her conviction in three corruption cases.
The Supreme Court special bench led by Justice S P Bharucha will hear her appeal on Friday.
The stay by the apex court could have an adverse impact on Jayalalithaa's immediate political future. She has time till November 14 to get elected to the state legislature, failing which she will have to step down as chief minister.
