Efforts on to resolve Ayodhya issue: Shahnawaz

Union Civil Aviation Minister Syed Shahnawaz Hussain on Monday said efforts were on to resolve the Ayodhya issue through dialogue.

"Talks are going on as Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had disclosed," he told reporters in New Delhi.

The minister said the solution to the issue should not become a "bone of contention" between Hindus and Muslims, but instead should pave the way for strengthening the bonds of brotherhood between the two communities.

Shahnawaz also denied reports that the Centre was "saffronising" the educational system in the country.

"It is a baseless propaganda being carried out by the opposition parties as they have no other issue to rake up against the government," he said.

The minister also denied that the Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party had made a demand for a division of the state on regional and religious lines.

"The state BJP leaders have not raked up the issue or supported such a demand," he said.
