Mosque can be built only at undisputed site: Shia cleric

Noted shia cleric Maulana Kalbe Jawaad on Thursday told the special commissioner appointed by the Allahabad High Court for day-to-day hearing on the Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit that a mosque could only be built at the undisputed site.

Appearing as the 26th witness for the Sunni Central Waqf Board before the commissioner, Additional District Judge Narendra Prasad, Jawaad said a mosque built on a land by force was 'haram' (illegitimate).

The shia religious leader was cross-examined by the counsel for Nirmohi akhara (religious institution) R L Verma.

Jawaad's cross-examination will continue on Friday.
