Taking a serious note of mass transfers of officials ahead of the assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir, the Election Commission on Saturday directed the state government to rescind transfers of 75 junior engineers and 23 tehsildars.
Election Commission sources said the transfers were carried out without the commission's permission.
