Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has extended his yearend holiday in Goa by a day and will return to New Delhi on January 2, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said on Tuesday.

The prime minister "liked Goa", Parrikar told the Press Trust of India.

Vajpayee was scheduled to leave Goa on January 1 at the end of a four-day holiday at the Taj Exotica beach resort at Benaulim in south Goa.

Besides playing with his grandchildren, who have come along with his foster daughter and son-in-law, Vajpayee is enjoying the sunsets and musical nights.

The resort even organised a special new year eve bash for him, courtesy A Hariharan of the Colonial Cousins.

Security is very tight, with forces having taken over the one-kilometre-long approach road to the resort. There are seven security rings around Vajpayee.
