The United States embassy in New Delhi has expressed satisfaction over the security arrangements around American installations in the capital.
Embassy spokesman Gordon Duguid said that post September 11, the Indian and American authorities have been working closely on security matters.
"We have received the finest cooperation from the Indian authorities," Duguid said.
The security around the mission and other American installations in the capital, according to the Delhi police officials, was beefed up soon after the attack in Kolkata.
The embassy is being guarded by Delhi police personnel, the Central Industrial Security Force, commandoes and by a private security agency.
But there has not been any additional deployment of force at the embassy.
"We have enough deployment. Four vehicles of the Delhi police are posted at various corners outside the embassy and we have around 20 armed men," a police official said.
The embassy is tightlipped about the steps that have been taken to improve the security. "We cannot elaborate on the security arrangements. But we constantly review the situation and have taken necessary action," Duguid said.
The spokesman said security arrangements around American installations in the country were also adequate.
"Even in the United States Information Service attack in Kolkata, the office has not been hit and no staff member injured or killed," he added.
The American consul general in Kolkata is in touch with the local authorities. But no diplomat from the American embassy has flown to Kolkata. "Our men there are capable enough to handle the situation," Duguid said.
The embassy, however, has not named any suspects for the attack.
"We do not have enough information about the identity or the motive of the attackers. We cannot speculate about it," the embassy spokesman said.
They are not even describing the attack as one on an American centre.
"It was an attack on the police outpost outside the USIS office. Whether it was an attack on the police or on the American centre, I cannot definitely say anything," Duguid told rediff.com
The embassy has conveyed its condolences to family members of those killed in the attack.
