Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury called Indian High Commissioner Mani Lal Tripathy to the foreign ministry and told him that 'such baseless allegations were reprehensible and will not in any way contribute to the combat by the countries in the region against terrorism'.
Chowdhury also conveyed 'profound shock and outrage' over the attack in Kolkata, which led to loss of valuable innocent lives and damage to property.
The foreign secretary expressed concern over 'attempts being made by a section of the Indian media to the effect that a branch of a terrorist outfit, involved in the incident, had been using Bangladesh territory and Bangladeshis'.
"Such unfounded allegations," he told the Indian envoy, "would only detract efforts aimed at successfully nabbing the perpetrators of the Kolkata incident."
"Allegation like this," he said, "was not in keeping with the spirit of friendly ties between two countries and should be avoided," Chowdhury said.
"Bangladesh has never and will never allow its territory to be used for any terrorist action against any country," the foreign secretary told the Indian high commissioner.
