Former Maharashtra Public Service Commission chairman S D Karnik, arrested in the multi-crore MPSC scam along with seven others, was admitted to a hospital on Sunday night after he complained of chest pain, a top Anti-corruption Bureau official said.
Karnik, a sitting member of the Union Public Service Commission, was feeling uneasy and at 11 pm on Sunday he complained of chest pain.
He was taken to government-owned JJ Hospital, the officer said, adding that doctors were attending on him.
Karnik was arrested on Sunday and remanded to police custody till July 20. Before arresting him, ACB had grilled him thrice in connection with the alleged scam and raided his two houses in Mumbai.
Besides Karnik, Avinash Sanas, private secretary to the minister for social welfare, too was also remanded to police custody till July 20. He was arrested on July 13.
