Mayawati denies dropping anyone from co-ordination committee

A day after removing state BJP president Kalraj Mishra and senior BJP leader Om Prakash Singh from the co-ordination committee of the ruling coalition, Chief Minister Mayawati on Wednesday backtracked and denied dropping anyone from the committee or any differences between the alliance partners.

Mayawati had on Tuesday said that the two BJP leaders and the state BSP president Indrajeet Saroj and state president of the JD (U) Suresh Niranjan Bhaiya had been dropped from the committee.

In an about turn, she issued a statement saying the question of removing anybody was irrelevant as the committee's final composition was yet to be decided.

'The issue of removing anybody is irrelevant', Mayawati said.

The committee, under the chairmanship of the chief minister, had held its first meeting on May 21, the statement said. Mishra and Singh were among those present, it added.

'I have made available a copy of the proposed structure of the committee to senior BJP leader Lalji Tandon and requested him to consult his party colleagues and other allies' on the same, she said.

The statement also said that it was the prerogative of the concerned constituents of the coalition to nominate or propose the removal of their representatives from the committee.

The composition of the committee would be finalised with the consent of all the concerned parties, she said.
