Paramhans holds prayers at workshop
in Ayodhya

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Ram Janambhoomi Nyas on Monday conducted a prayer at the workshop in Ayodhya where shilas (carved stone pillars) are being prepared.

After conducting the 90-minute prayer, in which leaders of the VHP and Bharatiya Janata Party participated, RJN president Mahant Ramchandra Paramhans asserted that the shilas would be donated at the 'Ram janambhoomi site' on March 15th.

"I have pledged to donate the stones at the garb griha (sanctum sanctorum) of Lord Ram," Paramhans told reporters.

"I will take a receipt from the receiver (Faizabad divisional commissioner) and it will be their responsibility to ensure the protection of the stones," he said.

Stating that he was not going to launch any andolan (movement), Paramhans said: "All Hindus of the world have the right, birthright, to offer prayers at the birthplace of Lord Ram in the same way as all Muslims have the right to offer prayers at Mecca."

The RJN chief also announced that he would be staying at the karyashala from Monday onwards and perform pujas till March 15th.

Prominent among those who participated in the prayers were VHP national secretary Champat Rai, its joint secretary Rajinder Singh Pankaj, VHP's Uttar Pradesh in-charge Purshotam Narain Singh, Andhra Pradesh unit in-charge Koteshwar Sharma and BJP's Faizabad district president Manohar Das.

Paramhans, who is also the Mandir Nirman Samiti president, supervised the work on the shilas.

"The responsibility of carving these stones is on me and I want to ensure early completion of the work," he said.
