Muslim board not serious about
resolving dispute: VHP

A day after the All India Muslim Personal Law Board rejected Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati's formula to resolve the Ayodhya dispute, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad on Monday alleged that the board was "not serious" about seeking a solution to the vexed issue.

"AIMPLB's decision makes it clear that Muslims are running away from a solution," VHP's joint secretary Rajinder Singh Pankaj told reporters in Ayodhya.

He claimed that the VHP had tried to resolve the dispute once earlier too when Chandra Shekhar was the prime minister "but even then Muslims [had] evaded a meeting."

He said the Marg Darshan Samiti, which includes leaders of the VHP and the Ram Janambhoomi Nyas, would meet on March 14 to decide the programme for March 15.

Asked how his organisation would react if its senior leaders were prevented from reaching Ayodhya, Pankaj said: "God is there and He will help us."
