Cops in Andhra Pradesh ready for March 15

The entire state police force has been put on alert to maintain law and order in Andhra Pradesh in the backdrop of Vishwa Hindu Parishad's proposed plan to hold shila puja in Ayodhya on Friday.

State Director General of Police Pervaram Ramulu in a statement on Thursday said that besides 13 battalions of Andhra Pradesh Special Police, three battalions of Central Reserve Police force and four companies of Rapid Action Force would be on alert.

The DGP asked the commissioners of police of Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam and superintendents of police of all the districts to monitor the law and order situation and to deal firmly with all those who may try to create any trouble.

Elaborate security arrangements have also been made in Hyderabad as a precautionary measure to maintain peace and order.

As many as 240 armed pickets have been posted at sensitive places and 130 patrol teams have been deployed to cover all vulnerable areas.

Commissioner of Police M V Krishna Rao asked the people to offer prayers in their local mosques and temples rather than congregating in large numbers at a few places.
