Shilas kept in Ayodhya police control room

Sharat Pradhan in Ayodhya

The two shilas offered by Ramjanambhoomi Nyas president Ramchandra Paramhans to Shatrughan Singh, head of the Ayodhya cell in the Prime Minister's Office, has been kept in the high-security Ayodhya police control room.

While these were originally taken to Bara Sthan, an old temple just outside the outer periphery of the acquired land, authorities realised that it would not be possible to provide foolproof security.

A top police official speaking to rediff.com said that a couple of prominent local temples were requested to keep the shilas, but none agreed.

"So the administration was left with no choice, but to secure the shilas in the police control room," he added.
