The murder of Natasha Singh, estranged daughter-in-law of senior Congress leader Natwar Singh, has yet again brought into focus the turmoil within the high-profile lives of the members of the political class.
This time Singh's son and a failed Congress candidate in the last Lok Sabha elections, Jagat Singh, who was separated from his wife after she bore him two children, is in the eye of the storm.
Natasha Singh was a young ambitious woman. Of late, she was reportedly dating Vinay Kapoor, a senior Coca Cola executive.
Within hours of her death, the Delhi police changed their initial claim of the death being a cold-blooded murder to suicide resulting in speculation that political pressure was applied on the agency to change tack.
Soon after the body was found, the city police officials claimed that they found three bullet wounds on the body, which was discovered on the terrace of Delhi's premium Hyatt Regency hotel.
Natasha was a frequent visitor to Hyatt and its discotheque.
By evening, based on the initial post-mortem report, the city police changed its statement and said that there were no bullet wounds, and she jumped to death.
Senior police officers, including DCP (Southwest Delhi) Taj Hassan, said that the possibility of murder has not been ruled out yet.
However, death of Natasha Singh, who was of late dabbling in photography and was a prominent presence in Delhi's late evening glitterati parties, has put the spotlight on her fraying relationship with husband Jagat Singh.
After their separation, Jagat Singh and Natasha had been playing out their anger in full view of Delhi's social circuit. A few months ago, Natasha's boyfriend Vinay Kapoor reportedly had a brawl with Jagat in a Gurgaon hotel. He also alleged being attacked by some people, and held Jagat responsible for the incident.
