Breaking his week-long silence after being expelled from the Pakistan-backed Hizbul Mujahideen, the militant outfit's former commander Abdul Majid Dar on Saturday said he will support any political initiative aimed at resolving the vexed Kashmir issue.
"If at any time a genuine political process is initiated to resolve the Kashmir issue, we will support the process as unnecessary bloodshed is neither our hobby nor our profession," he said in a statement.
However, he added that his group considered the armed struggle a necessity till the resolution of the problem.
The statement, written in Urdu, was issued to a local news agency in Srinagar.
Dar was expelled along with two former divisional commanders by Pak-based command council of the Hizbul Mujahideen on May 4.
Putting speculation about his forming a political party at rest, Dar said there was no such move. "We have not even thought of forming a political party," he said.
