Rajasthan HC deputy registrar suspended in sex scandal

The Rajasthan high court on Friday suspended a deputy registrar on charges of seeking sexual favours for himself and a couple of judges from a woman litigant.

The court administration served the suspension order on Deputy Registrar Govind Kalwani, posted in Jodhpur, after the Anti-Corruption Bureau registered a case against him following a preliminary inquiry.

Kalwani was accused of sexually propositioning Sunita Malviya, promising to settle in her favour a case to which she was a party.

Malviya accused Kalwani of having visited her beauty clinic in Jodhpur with the offer. She said he named two judges in this connection.

He even called a judge in Jaipur from her clinic, she said, and produced an audiotape as evidence.

She cited as a witness Additional Divisional Commissioner, Jodhpur, Prabha Tak.

The matter was also raised before a division bench consisting of acting Chief Justice M R Calla and Justice Gyan Sudha Mishra on Thursday in a public interest litigation.
