Srichand Hinduja moves Delhi high court for quashing CBI charge sheet

Srichand Hinduja, Europe-based Non Resident Indian businessman, sent a plea to the Delhi high court for quashing the Central Bureau of Investigation charge sheet against him in the Bofors payoff case on grounds of 'inordinate delay in the probe and trial', after two of his brothers had filed similar petitions earlier.

A bench comprising of Justice Usha Mehra and Justice R C Jain posted the hearing for November 20, when the petitions of the other two brothers -- Gopichand and Prakashchand -- would be taken up.

The brothers filed revision petitions after a special court headed by Judge Prem Kumar had rejected similar pleas.

They have submitted before the high court that the special judge 'failed' to appreciate their contentions.

Hindujas' counsel Ram Jethmalani had earlier argued that the delay in probing the case by the CBI was reflected from the fact that the case came to light in 1986, but was still at the stage of argument on framing the charges.
