The police in West Bengal claimed to have busted a major espionage racket with the arrest of four Inter-Service Intelligence agents from Murshidabad district.
Ziauddin Ahmed Biswas, Ismatara Biswas, Ghulam Murtaza and Ahsan Habib were arrested on charges of spying for Pakistan. The police claimed to have recovered from them sensitive documents, photographs and videocassettes.
The four were arrested in two separate raids in Durlabhapara and Kuchiamora villages under Jalangi and Domkul police stations respectively.
District police chief Virendra said the accused were the contacts of a senior ISI man, Amir, who is based in Dhaka.
"The four used to call up Amir and pass on vital information about defence installations and troop movement," Virendra said.
Investigations are on to find out if the four had more accomplices.
India has been alleging that Pakistan-backed terrorists and northeast insurgent groups were using Bangladesh as a training ground for their cadre.
Delhi has even submitted a list of 99 militant training camps to the Bangladesh Rifles this month.
