J&K polls: Three ministers enter fray

Three ministers and a legislator of the ruling National Conference were among 14 candidates who filed their nominations on Monday for the second phase of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly election slated for September 24.

Seven others entered the fray from Jammu district and four from the Kashmir valley, official sources said.

The ministers who filed their papers were Ajatshatru Singh, the Minister for Information and Transport from Nagrota, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, the Minister of State for Rural and Panchayats from Marh, and Surjit Singh Salathia, the Minister for Power Development from Vijaypur, the sources said.

The legislator, Soom Nath, filed his nomination from Samba constituency.

Two candidates of the Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Party and two independents filed their papers from Srinagar and Budgam.

Tariq Hamid Kara (JKPDP) filed his papers from Batmaloo constituency. His party activist Mohammed Kamall Malik was trying his luck from Budgam constituency.

Ghulam Hassan, an independent, filed his papers from Ganderbal.
