Army pressed into service, Bihar
police rule out sabotage

The army joined the railways and the state authorities in relief and rescue operations after Monday night's train disaster in Bihar's Aurangabad district.

Magadh Divisional Commissioner H C Sirohi told PTI over the phone from Gaya that a group of 100 soldiers has been rushed to the accident site near Rafiganj in Aurangabad district.

He said army tankers have been engaged in transporting potable water to the accident site since Monday night.

Meanwhile, Bihar's IGP (Operations) Neelmani ruled out the possibility of sabotage as the cause of the accident.

"This does not appear to be a case of sabotage...the railway authorities have jumped to a conclusion without even caring to verify the ground realities," he said.

Minister of State for Railways Bandaru Dattatreya had told some news channels that the mishap was a result of sabotage. The Eastern Railway authorities in Kolkata also suspect it to be a case of sabotage.
