The police and army personnel on Tuesday evening recovered 30 more bodies from the accident site of the Howrah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express near Rafigang in Aurangabad district, Bihar, pushing the death toll to 80.
A senior police official said heavy downpour since Monday night was hindering rescue operations.
He said many more passengers are feared trapped, as rescue personnel have not been able to enter all the damaged bogies.
Meanwhile, Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi announced Rs 100,000 as compensation for the next of kin of the dead.
During her visit to the accident spot, she also directed the state government officials to carry out relief and rescue operations 'on a war footing'.
After that she along with her husband, Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Laloo Prasad Yadav, visited different government hospitals in Gaya, where the injured are admitted.
Yadav demanded the resignation of Union Railway Minister Nitish Kumar on 'moral grounds' for the accident.
He also ruled out the possibility of sabotage behind the accident and said an inquiry will reveal it.
